Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga

The story portrays the struggle of an ordinary girl who is trying to fit into a much so perfect world.
Sonam Kapoor played the role of a shy and introvert girl, Sweety Chaudhary, who comes from a reserved Punjabi family. She has given an extraordinary performance, showing the suffocation of thoughts that she faces in every step of her life right from her childhood. On the other hand, Rajkummar Rao's character, Sahil Mirza, is like a ray of hope in her otherwise lifeless life. Abhishek Duha has done an exceptional job of portraying a condescending Indian brother, Babloo Chaudhary.
The biggest drawback is that the trailer reveals far too much. It would have been a really nice plot twist if Sweety’s sexual preference would have been kept a secret. Due to the trailer, the audience already had an idea of Sweety's character being a lesbian. As a result, everyone was waiting for her to reveal the ‘Big Secret’ in the first half of the movie. All the characters, their roles, powerful dialogues and almost the entire plot was already revealed. The movie would have been a not so monotonous one if only a hint of Sweety's character's sexuality had been revealed, keeping the suspense alive.

The movie manages to give a strong message that love comes in many forms and is not gender based right from the very beginning. It is the first Bollywood movie to be entirely focused on the LGBT community. The second half makes the viewers emotional and a stunned silence can be observed throughout the theatre. The melodious tune of the title song stuck in between the scenes gives it a lovey-dovey yet emotional atmosphere.
All the major dialogues being revealed in the trailer, there are not many powerful dialogues, yet somehow one gets engrossed in the movie. Some dialogues were very beautifully written and the punches in emotional scenes were cherries on top.

Although I would rate this movie 3/5, I feel its a must watch by all the age group so as to broaden the perspectives. It delivers a very strong message that not everyone is alike and this point doesn’t set us apart. The nation now stands together!
