Sonchiriya Review

Sonchiriya Review
Cast : Manoj Bajpayee, Sushant Singh Rajput, Bhumi Pednekar, Ranvir Shorey, Ashutosh Rana
Director: Abhishek Chaubey

‌The wild west has no predator or prey, the only true predator is karma. Abhishek Chaubey with this stroke of absolute genius captures and portrays this message poetically. Sonchiriya is the newest addition in this year's string of amazing movies but something tells me that this will the best this year.

Manoj Bajpayee returns to the Rocky terrains of Chambal after Bandit Queen and what a return it is. Ranvir Shorey and Ashutosh Rana are bullish in the whole ordeal and deliver perfection effortlessly.
Sushant Singh Rajput after a rather disappointing Kedarnath returns in full power and captures hearts with his amazing performance. Bhumi Pednekar is empowering to say the least as she beats down her inhibitions.
For me, the single most emotional moment in the movie is between the bandit queen Phuliya and Indumati ( bhumi ), where the former tells her that women cannot be differentiated on caste as they belong to a caste which is beneath all, women. Abhishek Chaubey with his DOP  Anuj Dhawan captures the true karmic arena which is the Chambal ravines.
The screenplay and story are near perfect with few faults in character depth. The music is emotional and moving.
Abhishek Chaubey delivers messages through plenty of metaphors in which the main message is that the ravines are not a place for mercy. It is a battleground which has but one rule " kill or be killed ". Overall, I will Sonchiriya a 4/5 for amazing performances, beautiful Cinematography and flawless direction. A near perfect Masterpiece.
