On the surface of it, Badhai Ho looks like any other loud Punjabi film but as you go deeper one understands that it is not just a family entertainer but a very well thought out Cinema which tackles a social issue in a very lighthearted way.
One has to appreciate the class act which Ayushmann Khurrana is. The scripts he chooses always turn out to be either critical or commercial successes. The screenplay of this movie is amazing, to say the least. The Dadi in this film is hilarious with snarky comments and dominant personality. While Gajraj Rao is a genuine joy to watch. Ayushmann and Sanya have very good on-screen chemistry.
The soundtrack is commendable but I feel it doesn't add much to an already amazing film. This drama of an emotional comedy is a must watch for anyone who is tired of the same old loud comedy's.
This year has genuinely been very good for Indian Cinema with brilliant films such as Andhadhun, Tumbaad and now Badhai Ho being made. The industry has started to evolve into a content-driven one and the change feels very good. So overall, I would give this movie a 4/5 for an amazing script, great direction, amazing performances and a new story to appreciate.
