Aquaman Movie Review

Immediately after Justice League, Arthur Curry, the reluctant heir to the throne of Atlantis tries to balance the world of surface dwellers and his people. While he makes efforts to bring everyone together, he is challenged by a known foe.

Cast: Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, William Dafoe
Director: James Wan

The hyped up stand-alone story of DC's resident brawn hits the screens and creates a much-needed impact in the audience. After box office failures such as Justice League, BvS, Suicide Squad, Aquaman is a fresh new outcome as it delivers what it sets out to do and impresses even further. The obvious talking point of this movie was its mind-blowing visuals. This movie before being a great cinematic experience is a visual fiesta. The underwater world of Atlantis is shown beautifully with amazing underwater monsters, kingdoms. Jason Momoa and Amber Heard are mind-blowing in this movie. Delivering the action and the comedy ( which in this case, actually works ).
Jason Momoa lives up to his man-crush persona and delivers a performance with few flaws. Their chemistry together is pleasing to watch as both of them compliment each other's character in some kind of way. The screenplay is amazing and really meshes well with the characters. The jokes don't feel forced and Jason Momoa proves that he can deliver serious dialogues and monologues when required.
My only disappointment with the movie was that for some parts it felt like a really cliche superhero movie. The scene when Aquaman's parents run towards each other in slow motion with a romantic song playing in the background made me cringe for the next 2 hours.
Overall it was a good stand-alone movie with great elements of CGI, screenplay, cast performances. So I would give it a 3/5.
