Kedarnath Review

Kedarnath is a love story set in the beautiful Uttarakhand, which stands the test of time through the devasting floods.

Cast : Sushant Singh Rajput, Sara Ali Khan, Nitish Bharadwaj
Director : Abhishek Kapoor

Set in the beautiful mountains of Kedarnath, this is a movie which seems more focused on the love story rather than the disaster it is based on. The disaster which hit Kedarnath, unfortunately, destroys the film too.
The movie recycles the old, cliche of a Muslim poor boy falling in love with a rich Hindu girl all over again. However, Sara Ali Khan is commendable in her debut and delivers a solid performance. Sushant also delivers a good performance and dances his way into Sara's heart. The setting is top notch but the special effects and screenplay seem a bit pedestrian. The songs are nice and catchy, seem well placed and catch the mood of the movie.
The movie fails as a tragedy drama though, as the movie gives importance to the disastrous flood only for a minuscule 20 minutes and obviously fails to make an impact. The CGI created flood seems patchy and but still does a mediocre job.
Overall I would give this movie a 1.5/5 for delivering a cliche love story, pedestrian screenplay and being a mediocre love story rather than a tragedy drama.
